WhatsApp campaigns that don't get you blocked
The channel with the highest open rate is also the easiest to burn. A few rules keep it earning instead of costing you customers.
WhatsApp gets read. That is exactly why a bad campaign is expensive — you are not competing with a crowded inbox, you are interrupting a conversation with someone's family.
Earn the number properly
A number given at checkout for a delivery update is not consent to receive promotions. Ask separately, say what you will send and how often, and make opting out one tap.
Segment or do not send
A discount on a dish someone has never ordered reads as spam. The same message to people who ordered it three times reads as thoughtful. The data to tell them apart is already in your order history.
Frequency is the whole game
Most merchants who ruin the channel do it with volume, not content. Weekly is plenty for most. Watch the block rate as closely as the redemption rate.
Measure against orders
Delivery and read receipts flatter you. The only number worth reporting is orders attributable to the send, against the margin you gave away to get them.
